Clear Creek ISD honors students, staff

Clear Creek ISD students and staff were recognized and honored by CCISD Board of Trustees and Superintendent Dr. Greg Smith during the September board meeting.
The students and staff were singled out for teaching excellence, achievements in orchestra and a cost-saving maintenance plan.
Amy Phillips, a Westbrook Intermediate School science teacher, received the Teacher of the Year for Mentoring Excellence Award at the Texas Regional Collaborative (TRC) conference. The award recognizes members who have provided mentoring and technical assistance, coaching and professional development to colleagues and provided quality-mentoring activities for science teachers.
At McWhirter Elementary Professional Development Laboratory School, the second grade was recognized for their dedication to improving student learning through professional collaboration and were named the 2012 recipient of the Shirley Hord Learning Team Award.
Members of the Clear Lake High School Symphony Orchestra were also recognized by Dr. Smith and board members. The group, accompanied by directors Bryan Buffaloe, Kevin Black and Joe Munoz, were named the 2012-2013 Texas State Honor Full Orchestra by the Texas Music Educators Association.
CCISD was recognized for a custodial program certified as achieving the International Sanitary Supply Association's (ISSA) Custodial Industry Management Standard re-certification. The certification represents quality systems, service delivery, health and environmental stewardship and more. The head custodians were also honored for their commitment to maintaining a safe environment for students. CCISD's maintenance department was also recognized for using energy efficient practices and saving CCISD $1.2 million in energy.
